Santiago Roncagliolo is a Peruvian writer, journalist, and translator. He was born on March 29, 1975, in Lima, Peru. He started his career as a journalist, working for several newspapers and magazines, including Peruvian daily El Comercio and Spanish daily El País.
In 2003, Roncagliolo published his first novel, "Red April," which won the prestigious Alfaguara Prize in Spain. Since then, he has published several novels, short story collections, and essays.
Roncagliolo's works often explore themes of violence, corruption, and political conflict in Peru and Latin America. He has been recognized for his literary contributions with awards such as the World Literature Prize in 2009 and the XIII Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize in 2010.
Aside from his writing, Roncagliolo has also translated works from English to Spanish, including novels by Roald Dahl and Edgar Allan Poe. He currently lives in Spain.
